A View From Outside
I won't go so far as to say that she's in any way typical of British sentiment, but Melanie Phillips seems to echo what most people not blinded by the light of the One are saying. Then again, perhaps this perception is more widespread than originally believed. No matter. It's just nice to hear it said by a foreigner.

BHO, in telling the grade schoolers that he was tired of being in the White House, was really saying he's tired of all the scrutiny.
Just follow me blindly, he seems to want to say. Immaturity in a grown man.
Next thing we know he'll be parroting Rodney King. "Can't we just all get along?"
The columnist - who quote Krauthammer and the Family Research Council as if they had merit - is almost a parody of a right-wing commentator. If I had wanted to imitate a conservative pundit, I couldn't have done better.
That's the problem with contemporary conservatives. Beyond satire, because every time they've reached some nadir of cliche cumignorance whereby we can laugh at them, rather than toss the shovel out of the hole, they continue to dig.
That would be funny if they weren't so on the money. Once again you fail to address any points in the piece, just cast aspersions because of the author's political leanings. For a while there, from linking to that economic stuff on another thread, I thought, Geoffrey, that you were going to engage in honest debate. I guess your position is just too indefensible.
Marshall:
Spot on assessment with respect to the linked article and the comments of GKS.
Best,
