More Important Than The Last Time

It's Halloween.  It's 7:30PM and we've had not one kid show up at the door.  Not.  One.  Last year, we may have had three occasions of our door bell ringing.  Maybe.  Prior to moving into this house, we lived in a townhouse and there weren't too many people with kids there, and we think they just took their kids to where the single family residences were, if they took their kids at all.  It's weird.  When I was a kid, if your candy didn't last until past Christmas, you weren't out long enough on Halloween night.  We were all dedicated to totally filling up our brown paper shopping bags, hitting every house until no one had porch lights on.  I'm not sure there was a "cultural" time limit, and if there was, no one told us kids.  We just kept going.  Fast forward, and it was all I could do to get my kids go all the way around the block without wanting to cash it in.  Now, I think there must be other means by which kids can get their fill.  My church does an annual "Trunk or Treat" where congregants set up their cars with the trunks open, decorated to one degree or another, and pass out candy and reminders that Jesus loves them.  I believe local schools do something similar.   If that took place when I was a kid, that would just mean more options before the regular house-to-house Trick-Or-Treating ensued.  Man...

It's gotta be the parents.  How could it not be?  Look at what so many people are pushing today (Read the DSA platform).  While there are legit fears about sending out one's kids in this day and age, we heard about "Mr. Stranger Danger" back in the day and all candy was inspected (home made treats were unceremoniously tossed by Ma).  But we had to work for our Snickers.  Hours pounding the pavement.  Now, like a bunch of little socialists-in-training, the kids have to do very little.

So, three days hence...and hopefully no longer even in the bluest of states...all who care to "pound the pavement" will have cast their votes for various elected positions throughout the nation.  Naturally, it would be extremely damaging to the nation should either or both Houses of Congress fall to the Democrats.  This is the party of  "Trunk or Treat" rather than the "Trick or Treat" of days gone by.  The party of "bring the treats to me" rather than the "I'll go get the treats available to any who cares to make the effort".

And of course there are those running who are far worse than that.  Jew haters, America haters, producer haters, wealthy haters, Christian haters, morality and truth haters...just haters.  These are the Democrats who pretend they champion the needy after making more people needy by their policies....the weak after making them more vulnerable to the aggressive...the oppressed after making sure they'll be oppressed.

Every election cycle we're told by many that this is the most important election of all time.  Sadly, it's always been true with each passing cycle over the last 20-30 years or more.  Europe is an example of what's in store if the very same ideology...truly championed by the left...succeeds.  While there may be legitimate issues with the center-right...the GOP..., there is simply no upside to allowing Democrats or "Democratic" Socialist and Communists (or islamists of any kind) to have power in this country.  They are anathema to our Constitution and founding principles.  People suffer because of them.  Always.

In Christ's Name I pray may God have mercy on our nation and its people.

I can get my own candy.
