Leftist Shamefulness: Diversity Is Our Undoing Edition

I don't normal do things this way, but the following link pretty says all which need be said, with one exception:  I don't think only foreigners act as those in the first clip.  I'm quite certain there are some of our own who act in this manner.  I can see kids doing this type of thing quite a bit.  The encouragement of parental units is contemptible and I wouldn't be opposed to something like this being enough to send them packing back to their nation of origin.  How we should deal with our own is a different matter.

Where I live now, there exists a little issue which confounds me.  Without getting into the details...because it isn't a dire situation...it relates to the linked piece in this way:  How can something so obvious be abused so easily.  How could anyone not a child believe that it's OK to do something so obviously wrong?  Really?  Those adults actually think it's OK to take ALL the candy, as if they hit the jackpot before anyone else came upon it?  No.  Those adults are assholes who are teaching their kids assholery.  They will grow up to be assholes, too, unless someone not related strikes a chord in them they cannot ignore.

When I'm out and about, I seek to act in a manner which will align with Christian teaching...that others will know me by my actions.  I'm not perfect at it, but I think I do OK for the most part.  I would not stuff all the candy in my kids' bags.  If I had any doubt at all, I would ask.  If I can't get an answer, I err on the side of personal sacrifice, not wanting to be a burden on others.  That's my plan.

Anyway, as to the video, one wonders how common that attitude is among those of the nation from which those people originated.  I know from my work driving trucks, drivers from other countries do NOT behave as I and most American drivers I've known act.  The things they do made me wonder if "common courtesy" was common whence they came.  I didn't see similar behaviors out of American drivers I felt left a bit to be desired.

So let's assume we confront such people about their behaviors, assuming their culture is as crappy as their behavior suggests, and seek to enlighten them as to how things are done here.  Well, knowing how so many fellow Americans bristle at being corrected when busted for acting badly, we also have a language barrier to overcome with the foreigners.  If this is how they are, they've not "strengthened" us in the least.  We already have assholes in this country.  We need no more.

Among the assholes we already have are those who think we have some obligation to allow anyone to enter our country.  We don't.  But those who immigrate here have an obligation to be the best people they can be because it's someone else's house.  One is expected to be one's best behavior in the house of another.  And that means, even if those foreigners saw an American pillaging a bowl of candy, they should not.  If they behave better than us, then their presence does indeed strengthen us by virtue of their presence adding to the number/percentage of good people.  Otherwise, they're not of any benefit at all and doesn't strengthen us in any way.

Sowell teaches, there are no solutions only tradeoffs, and he is manifestly right.

The Left insists that diversity is an apparently unalloyed strength, and it's rare to see even an attempt at an argument.

Indeed. I've seen nor heard an explanation for how that claim is in any way true. The reality is that the opposite is true. It is not the diversity of the immigrant class, but their desire to be Americans, to acclimate. My grandparents spoke little English, but insisted that their kids did. Those kids didn't pass down Polish to their kids (and their conspiring against us was maddening!) because they wanted us to be Americans. I recently spoke of neighbors of mine (from around six years ago) from Bosnia. They were muslim but one wouldn't know it by looking at them or even being next to them unless they chose to bring it up. They had accents, but wanted their kids to speak English. The father, Irmin, was frustrated when his in-laws visited because they didn't speak English well or cared to do so, and thus the kids had to speak their native tongue. The point is, despite their heritage and religion, they wanted to be here and be of us. This isn't the case with most immigrants who don't come legally. While I can speak to percentages, the very fact that so many immigrants cluster without attempts to truly assimilate does not bode well for the future of our nation. Their culture no longer matters except within their own homes. Otherwise, they should be adopting ours.

During my 10 years building affordable housing, I was impressed with the majority of the immigrant families we built for. The commitment to education and the American dream was alive and well in those families.

I agree that advocating for diversity in skin color/ethnicity is not going to add value to any organization. It's possible that seeking diverse viewpoints, might add value, but no one on the left has any interest in that. They'd much rather cancel anyone with a viewpoint different from theirs.

Who the heck is Bubba? He might need one!

Craig,

Indeed. The only "diversity" which has any possibility of adding value is the diversity of ideas brought forth for consideration. It's not that there are lots of ideas so much as that from whatever quantity of ideas there are, the best can be implemented to the advantage of most, if not all. We still have in this country the ability to implement multiple ideas due to having fifty states, which should have autonomy enough to decide for themselves which ideas are best for them. Individual towns can also decide for themselves and from these individual experiments, the best will rise to the top waiting there for any others who wish to adopt them.

The thing is, this "diversity of ideas" doesn't require diversity of races or creeds since in this country, there is already the basis for how we exist found in our Constitution. Regardless of one's place of origin, one's religion, one's race, no idea which conflicts with the Constitution and the well known ideals of Americanism can be beneficial.

Leftism...modern progressivism...embodies so much...TOO much...which conflicts with our Constitution and American ideals and principles. Rational people reject their ideals, while the left seeks to impose them in the very manner they claim they oppose...the "forcing down our throats" ideas and beliefs we find objectionable, repugnant and demonstrably detrimental for the general welfare.

Dan,

You know Bubba well. He's bested you in many blog discussions over the years and consistently exposed your many shortcomings. He's been away for personal reasons and has decided to take up the occasional blog discussion once again...much to our mutual benefit, though you're not bright enough to recognize it or accept it if you do, so keen are you to cling to moral corruption.

But I'll bite. What is it you think he might need?

Been far too busy the last ten days to check this thread until now, but I was wondering the same thing -- and I'm wondering if all our prior conversations fried Dan's brain, LOL!

He would first need a brain to fry. And while calling him a moron is not very Christian of me, to say he is devoid of wisdom in completely legitimate and accurate...and pretty much the same thing.
