One For The Road

Having a bit of time before we leave for SC, I decided to spend it on a new post.  I read this excellent piece at Neil's blog, so I decided to steal it.  It's that good.

So much of what can be found in the article has been at least touched on in past posts here, as well as elsewhere.  Walter Hudson put it all together.

For instance, points 6 & 5 touche on the goofy notion of our collective responsibility certain people feel whites must assume for past transgressions.  And point 3 has this:

"Prejudice is not inherently racist, and loose accusations of racism based on isolated perceptions of prejudice are premature. Words have meaning, and we have different words to describe distinct concepts. Prejudice, bigotry, and racism are not interchangeable. While prejudice can be innocent and even reasonable in certain contexts, bigotry is the irrational maintenance of a prejudice in light of evidence to the contrary. Bigotry can be informed by a multitude of factors, of which race is only one. Racism is what we call bigotry informed by race."

He then goes on to rightly conclude...

"These distinctions are important in any intellectually honest discussion of race relations. When prejudice, bigotry, and racism are used interchangeably, it is evidence that the discussion is not honest."

How often do we see our leftist visitors confuse these terms, using them as bludgeons rather than to clarify truths?  But then, intellectual honesty is foreign to our leftist visitors, so desperate as they are to demonize instead defending their position on their merits or demonstrating how they believe ours has none.

Marshall: "Again, you kids insist on technicality.”

And now you know why. Perhaps this is the birth of your intellectual honesty.

Or...

But then, intellectual honesty is foreign to our [rightist contributors], so desperate as they are to demonize instead defending their position on their merits or demonstrating how they believe ours has none.

Again with the dishonesty. This should be a lesson to all. One must be absolutely clear in their meaning, leaving no possibility for a lefty to pretend the unintended is intended, as feo does here. The lefties insist on technicality when it suits them to do so. My intellectual honesty is not at issue. The intellectual honesty of people like feo are. Actually, there is little that is "intellectual" about them.

And of course, we see it again in Jim's alteration of a quote by me. Those of us on the right have no trouble with defending our positions on merit and exposing their opinions as lacking merit.

Jim said...

And those of us on the left know when to call bullshit.

Marshal Art said...

Actually, Jim, you don't. I'm sure you like to believe that, however.

Very convincing marsha. Perhaps next time you can formulate an argument.

Marshal Art said...

That's pretty funny, troll, coming from a cretin who has yet to formulate even a bad argument on any subject at any time. But you go right ahead and continue to make a fool of yourself, since that seems to be your life's mission.

Parklife said...

Heh.. Sometimes I almost feel bad for you in that you cant understand the world around you.

Marshal Art said...

Benny-boy,

I doubt you ever feel badly for me and I really could not care less one way or the other. What's quite clear is that you couldn't explain what's wrong with my understanding of the world around me if your life depended upon it.

Parklife said...

marsha.. I thought you were on vacation?

Take some time to decompress.. recharge.. relax.. enjoy your time off.

Dont worry, we can argue about more pointless topics when you get back.

Marshal Art said...

The only thing "pointless" is your comments, cretin. Oh, and your life.

Marshal Art said...

And BTW, troll-boy. You have never "argued" for or against anything. You just accuse without basis and try to be clever, failing consistently. You're really good at being pathetic, however. Nice to have a hobby, I guess.

Parklife said...

This is how you are spending your vacation? Seriously marsha.. go OUTSIDE. Take a hike. Do something else besides making a bigger ass of yourself here. Its vacation man.. enjoy it!

Marshal Art said...

What makes you think I'm not enjoying my vacation? Because I take a moment to check my emails and blog postings? And what makes you think I could ever make of myself a bigger ass than you make of yourself by posting another stupid comment? The real humor of your comments is that you actually think you are being clever or somehow superior enough to condescend. You're a punk, Benny. And extremely pathetic one at that. Fortunately for you, I'm not too proud that I can't come way down to your level for my own amusement. Someday, perhaps you can learn to elevate yourself to mine. I'm still waiting for something that resembles substance in a comment from you. I fear I wait without satisfaction. You aren't capable of anything more than what you've always delivered. Nothing.

Parklife said...

Just amazing...

marsha.. you even fail at taking a vacation.

Marshal Art said...

Wow, Benny-boy. You're really taking "pathetic" to a new level. Do you really presume to dictate what constitutes a holiday for another person? Must everyone's vacation match what YOU believe a vacation should be? What if no one else wants to ride the horsie on the merry-go-round?

Parklife said...

marsha.. Seems you have had a few too many Mai Tais. When the headache subsides, feel free to make a coherent statement.

Marshal Art said...

No Mai Tai's, no hangovers, no respite from a pathetic troll trying to tell me I'M the one making incoherent comments. Still patiently waiting for Benny to log one single coherent and substantive comment. But I fear the cretin wouldn't know coherence if it bitch-slapped him and took away his binkie and sippy-cup. What a loser!

Dear Parky,

Perhaps you need a refresher on the definition of "vacation"?

Here, I looked it up for you:

va·ca·tion/vāˈkāSHən/
Noun:
An extended period of recreation, esp. one spent away from home or in traveling.

Now, Marshall was indeed on vacation, for he was away from home and traveling to SC. In fact, it is probably safe to say any extended period of time away from work is a vacation for Marshall, so I do not see any issue with him checking his blog and email as long as he is enjoying himself while not working.

Just thought I'd educate you in some vocabulary, my good man. So, do you actually plan on contributing to this argument? If not, kindly buzz off.

Parklife said...

lol.. very nice Gabby. Perhaps you can show marsha and glenny how to use the internets.

Obviously marsha can spend his vacation however he wants... and really nobody cares. Its just sad that he spends his vacation time acting like an ass. But, its not like he can take a break from crazyville.

Marshal Art said...

The "internets"? You mean there's more than one?

Obviously YOU care how I spend my vacation as demonstrated in four comments above. Wait. That's right. YOU'RE nobody. And what is truly sad is that you are an ass all the time. Always have been since you've first soiled my blog with your presence. Can't see that you will ever change.

Parklife said...

"You mean there's more than one?"

LOL.. marsha.. you are an idiot.

"Obviously YOU care how I spend my vacation.."

Sadly no.. more amazed that you would choose to spend your vacation acting like a three year old.

"Can't see that you will ever change."

Ladies and gentlemen.. hes just now figuring this out.

Marshal Art said...

"hes just now figuring this out."

Nope. Just re-iterating a commonly known fact.

"Sadly no.. more amazed that you would choose to spend your vacation acting like a three year old."

This coming from a three year old mind.

"you are an idiot."

This coming from an idiot.

Whatever you say, troll-boy. Whatever you say.

I wasn't reading blogs for a couple weeks so I missed this. Good points.

I was on vacation in SC as well -- maybe we crossed paths?!
